  • Ultralight - With nominal specific gravity of 0.02 gm/cc, SpexLite ®

    Ultra Light Filler

Beads have a bulk density in the range of approximately 1.0-1.6 pounds per cubic foot. This allows the user to achieve far lower product weights than with typical filler materials or conventional lightweight fillers, such as glass microspheres or other expanded polymer materials. Significant cost per volume savings are expected.

  • Bead Form - The rounded shape of SpexLite ® provides the optimum geometry for easy handling, processing and low resin absorption. The individual beads are essentially encased in a polymer "skin" which also minimizes liquid absorption. As polymer-based beads, there is a much lower abrasion factor than with other fillers.

  • Handling Characteristics - SpexLite ® products are designed to be virtually inert within the limits of thermoplastic polymer properties. [The user is cautioned to test for specific chemical and heat resistance for each intended use]. They have a very narrow particle size range, which makes them clean and basically dust free. It is recommended that pumping and mixing be carried out under very low shear conditions, using low speed mixing blades for dispersion and proper static grounding procedures, along with standard practice for personnel protection [This should include dust masks where appropriate. Avoid spills, which could cause loose footing and possible risk of injuries].

  • Breakage - Because SpexLite ® beads are produced as closed cell pellets, the typical crushing or breakage associated with other lightweight fillers does not occur. Instead, there is a deformation or distortion of the bead, which largely recovers when the pressure is removed, thereby eliminating the creation of high density, abrasive mineral fines in the case of other lightweights.

  • Packaging - Standard packaging will be nominal 5 cubic foot/ 5 pound cardboard boxes with plastic liner bags, stacked 4 to a layer and 5 layers high on a pallet. The pallet weight will be 100# net, with 26 pallets in a 53 foot trailer. SpexLite ® will also be available in nominal 4'x4'x4' supersacks, with net weight approx. 60-80 # each, loaded 52 to a truck.
